How it all began.

jtunes.jpg - 9593 BytesThank you for taking the time to find out about my Yorkshire Terriers and my family. I fell in love with Yorkies many years before I ever owned one. The prospects of having a Yorkie seemed very unlikely. One day at a local dance, a band member came over to our table and started talking, she had Yorkies for over 16 years, and as the conversation progressed she mentioned that her schedule away from home was making the enjoyment of having Yorkies more a job than a pleasure. She then suggested that I take her 2 Yorkies that she still had and we could co-bred them. I was delighted. The next weekend Gypsy and Holly arrived at our home and this was the start of my experiences with Yorkshire Terriers.

We bred Gypsy to Ch Buttonbrite Wixley Wonder (USA) and a litter of 5 were born in 1986. I kept 2 females and this was the start of Joarcam Yorkshire Terriers. I really didn't know that these 2 females would have started such a love for this tiny breed, nor did my husband. Howard has been very supportive over the years, and when I want to keep another puppy that I think will be outstanding, he never says no. But there have been times he will look at me and say, "I think it is getting crowded around here!" At that point I will place some of my babies that I wanted to keep but have second thoughts about.

In 1989 my first Yorkshire Terriers was shown to its Championship by its new owner and the fever of showing dogs grew. I attended shows for years without entering, hoping to learn as much as possible and then a friend of mine, Mona Gallant said she would show them for me. We traveled to 5 shows and finished Ch Joarcam's Angel Made Sugah at the age of 14 months. We were so happy because as we put it, she was honestly shown, because we didn't know any differently and have continued to do so. Sugah went on with Mona to obtain her CD.

jsydney.jpg - 11988 BytesAs of July 3, 2005, I am proud to say we have over 65 champions in confirmation and obedience. Congratulations to these dogs and their owners.

I don't believe every dog should be a champion on paper but I do believe every dog should be a champion in a heart. This has been what all these years are about. The love that I see in the eyes of the people that go through my doors is the best reward a breeder can receive.

It really only seems like a few years ago, but I know the time has flown by quickly. I have met a lot of interesting people and learned a lot of valuable information. This information I take pride in offering you. I am always available to answer questions that you may have about this adorable breed. Please feel free to contact me, and I will do my best to help.
